The Blue Butterfly

The little blue butterfly emerged from her cocoon on a bright sunny day, admiring her vivid blue wings that gave her such joy to soar through the air. She felt free after being wrapped up for so long and would flint and fly all around. She felt alive, silly, and sassy all in one. She loved adventure and sometimes that was a challenge for the ones who loved her so dear. With a big goofy grin, she would zoom here and there living life to the fullest, always remaining true to herself. She always had her family worried or laughing hysterically with her antics. There was never an in between in her personality. She was spunky and gritty, always trying to fly higher and faster. She was different than the other little butterflies, but she always managed to fit in wherever she went. She was vivacious and exuberant and had a huge heart as big as her personality. She was courageous and gullible all at the same time. She would get sassy whenever she felt like her wings were being clipped, however she would always apologize when she calmed down. She grew into a radiant, bubbly adult and ventured out on her own. She was ready to see other places. But being hardheaded and naïve does not always go together. She trusted some a little too much and unfortunately on a certain date she met her fate from that mistake and found herself fluttering around the pearly gates. When the gates opened, she timidly flew in and saw the most beautiful site she had ever seen. Everything sparkled and gleamed and she screamed with joy at all that was seen. Then she heard the calm gentle voice welcoming her to her eternal home. She asked Lord, “why did you bring me home so young?” He smiled at her gently and answered, “my beloved daughter heaven needed a little more of your type of personality.” She looked into those beautiful eyes and saw them twinkle while answering her. Then she saw her little wings that were once blue sparkling like glitter. Oh, how she loved the transformation because she was a little bougie. Soon tears welled into her eyes, and God asked, “why the tears little one?” She said, “my family is going to be so sad.” She quietly said, “I have a question to ask, how will they know that I loved them so dear?” Her resilient self-looked God in the eye and said, “you know I am rather bossy, so would you send little reminders that I am always near?” He told her, “Yes your family will have sad days wishing you were still there; however, I will give them glimpses of you here and there.” She flew over and kissed Abba on the cheek and thanked him for giving her the peace she had sought. As she flew off, he heard her holler, “you know I will check in to make sure they get those glimpses you promised.” He chuckled softly at her unfiltered self and nodded yes, as she went off to admire her new self. In her huge heart, that was filled with love and joy, she knew she would see her family again, because they were the ones who taught her to believe in the Lord.
